Save Our Souls
Can Leighton’s second book better his first? The answer is nearly here with my new book entitled Save Our Souls.
It is not a sequel to Gunboy, sorry folks I know a number of you want to know what is going to happen to our loveable psychopath and his Desert Eagles, but that is a little way away. I am currently writing the second draft, with the working title ‘Disconnect’.
Save Our Souls (which I will formally announce with a release date soon) is the first in my space adventure series. I’ve always been a fan of science fiction, Dune is one of my favourite books and the first two Alien films are always in my top ten movies.
Save Our Souls is a disaster thriller, it’s Alien meets The Poseidon Adventure. I had a fantastic time writing it and hope you all enjoy reading it. Here’s the working blurb:
Humanity has spread throughout the galaxy under the guidance of the Immortal Trinity. For those who choose not to follow their religion the universe is a dangerous place without their protection.
The long range sensors didn’t see it coming. A large, glacial form of another ship headed right for them. The Jian Seng was built for deep space haulage, not for manoeuvres. The collision was inevitable and catastrophic.
Ford Dahl is the duty pilot on his father’s haulage ship, the Jian Seng making the long trip from Asturas to Bakris in the outer colonies. The majority of her crew sleep in stasis, ignorant of the disaster that has befallen them. Unable to sustain life support except for a handful of desperate crew, it falls to those brave few to save their dying ship before it takes them with it.
Their one, distant glimmer of hope is from the United Earth Ship Albacore, responding to their S.O.S. But in the remains of the mysterious craft embedded within their own is a survivor. One who holds a secret which will decide the fate of both the Jian Seng and the Albacore.
I am also excited to say that I have secured the very talented and legendary Jim Burns to once again design my cover. Jim has been prolific in the book cover area, creating amazing covers for novelists like Peter F. Hamilton, Robert Silverberg and Frank Herbert. He did a great cover for Gunboy and I cannot wait to see what he comes up with for SOS.
